The long awaited Amnesty Period has been proposed by the SAPS to the portfolio committee, which would probably be instituted. 

Your first step is to Get Your Ducks In A Row and do not delay 

STEP 1 as we have said before make sure your COMPETENCIES are current and valid

The long awaited AMNESTY for - as we get it - is that the expired fire arms licence will have to be reapplied for and not renewed. 

  • It will be needed to be handed in at the SAPS and within 14 days be reapplied for. 
  • So it is of the utmost importance that you get your paper work in order 
  1. Valid competence, not to redo but to renew. GET IT DONE its done by the SAPS 
  2. SAPS 271 application form (which currently can only be accepted with a valid competence certificate)
  3. Motivation 
  4. Safe pictures
  5. All other required documentation
  • Firearms will be ballistic tested after it has been handed in – that could cause big delays depending on the possess utilised.
